My first order of business with this and every product review is a disclaimer: I am not a professional contractor. I am a farmer and a fine furniture maker. When it comes to construction and renovation projects, I’m a DIYer and weekend warrior. That said, I doubt many professional contractors will be reading my tool reviews. My goal in reviewing tools and products is to provide honest feedback based on my own use and experience with these tools to other regular folks like me- wanting to get their hands dirty, try new things, and get the best value for their hard earned dollars.

So let’s Talk about the Makita 18v LXT Brushless Cordless 116 MPH 459 CFM Blower!

At $205, this blower from Makita has found all kinds of uses around our home and farm. Granted, I’m not sure how many of those uses can be found inside the tool pamphlet! My favorite things to use it for are cleaning out the truck bed after picking up hay, using it to get air into a nice hot controlled burn on a brush pile, cleaning sawdust out of my powertools and blowing out my woodshop, I could go on and on. If you’ve read anything I’ve ever written about tools, you probably know by now how excited I am whenever I can find a well-powered battery tool to replace any little engine around my shed. This brushless motor delivers up to 459 CFM and “winds” up to 116 MPH. With a single 18v Battery, it delivers tons of power and longevity. It is far lighter (6.5 lbs), far quieter and far less smelly than my backpack gas blower, but delivers the exact same result. It always starts on a dime too. My favorite part about this tool is the speed lock for continuous operation. On my gas powered blower, my hands cramp up after about two minutes trying to keep the trigger pushed, so I noticed that handy little feature on this Makita blower right away.

This Tool Retails at $205. Is it worth it?

Even if you’re not already on the Makita battery platform, this tool is a great value because it also comes with at 4.0 AH battery and charger. When you’ve got a good blower, you’ll find plenty of excuses to use it.
